MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ESSENTIALS
To get the fast, DataNet "always-on", reliable access to the internet you want, there are a few things you'll need, other than a personal computer.
You'll need to have a NIC (Network Interface Card) installed in your computer and configured (this is not included in the service installation fee). When you purchase the card, you have several installation options:
1. Install it yourself.
2. Take your computer to a local computer store to have the card installed.
3. Be referred to a company who will send a technician out to your home to do the work. (Customers are responsible for any charges).
* Your computer software will need to be reconfigured to support DataNet. (Customer responsibility).
* Once your NIC is installed and everything is properly configured you will need to install a modem. (Customer responsibility).
* With DataNet "always-on" connectivity, you may wish to obtain firewall software to protect your computer from the internet. Please talk with your local computer dealer about the different types of firewall software available for your computer.
* Each modem has different software options.

If you currently have long distance service the Kennebec Long Distance, you will get a $5.00 discount off your bill.
Any situation requiring more bandwidth than DataNet 500, please contact Kennebec Telephone Internet for pricing.
